Ethiopia Idido
We’re beyond excited to introduce this coffee from Idido, with notes of honey, elderflower, white grape, clementine, and melon. This coffee is born from resilience, heritage, and a way of life found only in a small corner of Yirgacheffe, Ethiopia.
Idido is a remote community in the Yirgacheffe region, home to some of the oldest coffee traditions in the world. Getting there means a flight to Addis Ababa, a hop to Hawassa, and a four-hour drive into the mountains—where paved roads end and rugged dirt paths connect scattered farms.
At harvest, producers carry ripe coffee cherry by motorcycle, horse, or donkey to collection points, then truck it to the central station. The system runs smoothly until the rainy season, when mud makes every trip a challenge.
Farms are intercropped with native trees like false banana, and compost is distributed through collection centers. Coffee is carefully fermented 48–72 hours, then dried on raised beds for 4–5 days.
