Ethiopia Hadeso

We're excited to add another Ethiopian coffee to our lineup with this washed Guji from the Hadeso washing station! Ethiopia is known for producing bright, complex coffees, and this is no exception. We taste vibrant notes of raspberry limeade and kiwi.

Hadeso is a remote coffee-growing area in Ethiopia’s Guji region, about 300 miles south of Addis Ababa. The Hadeso washing station collects coffees from around 500 different farmers in the region, whose farms range from 10 minutes to an hour from the washing station.

During harvest, farmers bring cherries to nearby collection points by motorcycle, horse, or donkey before they’re transported to the washing station. 

Coffee is grown alongside native plants like false banana trees, which provide shade and help enrich the soil. At the washing station, the cherries are fermented for 36–48 hours before being dried for five to seven days under covered drying beds.
