Antigua, Guatemala

Sweet cherry and bright lemon and guava open the cup, followed by the comforting sweetness of brown sugar and cinnamon. Notes of tangerine and grapefruit weave in with sparkling acidity, giving this coffee both elegance and depth. It’s a dynamic balance of citrus, sweetness, and structure—an unforgettable take on the honey process.

This lot comes from Finca Medina and its sister estate, Anexo Portal, in the famed Antigua Valley. Nestled among the volcanoes of Acatenango, Fuego, and Agua, Antigua’s altitude, fertile volcanic soil, and cool climate make it one of the world’s premier coffee regions. Finca Medina has been producing specialty coffee here since 1842, and today its farms combine centuries of tradition with some of the most advanced processing methods in Latin America.

For this black honey process, cherries are floated, de-pulped, and dried slowly on raised beds. Each day, the beds are covered for two hours for a slow maturation, adding to the fermentation process that takes about 30 days, building complexity and richness in the cup.

The result is a coffee that shines with floral brightness, syrupy sweetness, and long, layered finish—a standout honey-processed lot and a glimpse of the innovation reshaping Latin American coffee.
